In 2003, The Andre Johnson Foundation, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, was founded as a way to give back to the community and to showcase the positive lifestyles and contribution of professional athletes.  The foundation is committed to empowering and developing youth from single-parent homes, into responsible and educated citizens.  Johnson wants to convey to all youth that no matter what your circumstances are, if you work hard, you can achieve your goals. He seeks to encourage today’s youth to reach their full potential in both athletic and academic pursuits.   Youngsters from communities in Houston, Texas and Miami, Florida are the beneficiaries of the foundation’s programs.

The majority of funds of the Andre Johnson Charitable Foundation are raised through The Andre Johnson Foundation Celebrity Weekend, a three-day weekend charity event that takes place in Houston, TX.  With the Houston community’s support, last year’s event raised significant funds, which were donated back into the Houston community to enrich lives of children and support positive educational programs for I Have a Dream-Houston.  The highlights of this exciting Celebrity Weekend will feature a Celebrity Bowling Tournament, hospital visits, a Celebrity Comedy Slam, as well as a Celebrity Basketball Game.  Last year over 400 people attended the events throughout the weekend

On May 11th - May 14th, 2006, Johnson will host the 2nd Annual Andre Johnson Foundation Celebrity Weekend to benefit the Houston Area Women’s Center.  The Houston Area Women’s Center is a non-profit organization that provides vision, leadership, and action to empower women to advance their roles, rights and well being.  HAWC also provides shelter and support services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Proceeds raised will benefit outreach programs administered by Houston Area Women’s Center.
